Structure part of $180,000 improvements
This Illaroo Reserve Playspace playground is located within a small attractive park in Beaumaris, an affluent suburb in Melbourne, 19 km south-east from Melbourne’s CBD.
There are no other parks within walking distance, and a kindergarten next door, so the Bayside City Council recently undertook improvements to enhance the area for pre-school aged children.
As part of the $180,000 improvements, Landmark Products designed, built and installed a pergola to cover a sand play area. The 5.4 x 4.7 metre structure is timber throughout, hardwood posts and pine roof frame and battens.
All the steel post supports were bolt down, with two submerged in the sand and camouflaged with rocks. These two posts were wrapped in Densopol 60 tape to insulate from sand and moisture.
The result gives a natural finish and partial cover from sunlight.
